Grimpa

Natives of the harsh cliffsides of Folgosinho, the Grimpa Gloompa are an industrious breed of Cthonic dwarves with a cartoonish orange pigmentation and colorful green hair. They are entirely distinct from similar species of dwarves in the Upper Sphere, and it is unclear as to whether these creatures share a common ancestry, or if they are entirely unrelated.

The Grimpa are cautious by nature, as the realm of Mag Duinn, to which they are native, is a hostile territory. As such, they remain quite elusive - almost mythical - to the other denizens of the realm. Throughout their history, they have been given much reason to fear outsiders, specifically when they were rounded up as eternal servants aboard the spectral ship of the damned.

Slavery

When the Goddess Nespera christened the ship of the damned, O Nazerack Expresso, she gave command of its charter to her devotee known colloquially as The Wondrous Boatman. In need of workers to staff his vessel, he ransacked the village of Folgosinho, enslaving all the Grimpa he was able to subdue.

Due to the unique conditions aboard the Nazerack, physical beings don't age naturally, so these prisoners were kept in a state of perpetual servitude for centuries. During that time they were forced to perform quippy songs to mock the dead - something that was entirely foriegn to the simple, good natured dwarves.

Ironically, these cynical beings, after hundreds of years aboard the vessel, have long ceased to be helpful in any capacity. In fact, many passengers found them to be confrontational and rude, contributing to the overall decay of the standards aboard the ever-moving ship. Despite their poor attitudes, they were endlessly amusing to both the Lord and Lady of the Land. Perhaps this is why they were kept aboard well beyond their usefulness.

Freedom

In the year AC'200 a group of passengers brought on board at the Moradu station just before the celebration of Festa do Anastasis (a rather busy time for the O Nazerack) ended up creating a profound change for those trapped aboard the cursed vessel. When a stowaway shade broke a window, allowing a corrupting fog to permeate the hear of Nazerack, a group of flesh-and-blood adventurers stepped up to quell the enraged blood.

Though they forestalled a disaster inside the ship, they couldn't prevent the ship from crashing into The Outlands outside the village of Aldeia de Raiz. Using this chaos, those Grimpas that had long been held captive aboard the ship escaped into the woods where they liaised with a group of scouts from the mountain settlement. The emancipated slaves spoke highly of the adventurers to their brethren, allowing for a rare encounter with an often hidden species.
