Pazu Pazuzu

Pazu|350
Lord of Decadence

Well known and beloved by the heathens of Sheol, Pazu is a debaucherous fiend that held court in his Cthonic province. Ultimately, his unchecked ego led to his undoing. Though he has been vanquished for eons, his estate has continued to entertain the denizens of the realm, so much so that many do not even realize he is missing.

Journey to the Surface

During one of his many fetes, Pazu Pazuzu was graced by an audience with the Cthonic demigoddess, Zell. Begging for a glimpse at his future, the seer reluctantly agreed to read her thread to divine his fate. In it, she saw that he would venture to the Surface Layer and experience new plateaus of pleasure and wealth, but this journey would be his ultimate undoing. She cautioned him to remain modest and refuse the invitation to walk beneath the light.

Though he had been warned of the danger, he couldn't stop thinking about the wonders that awaited him should he make the journey. The potential to find new heights of pleasure and the promise of the fame venturing to the topside would earn him was too much to bear, and he began seeking profane rituals that would allow him to tempt fate.

This call was answered when a misplaced mortal from the surface wound up trapped in Sheol. Though he knew the ritual to return to his plain, he lacked access to the rare materials needed to perform the ritual. The wizard, Bondade Vadeis, and Pazu formed a wretched pact that the demon would provide the necessary supplies in exchange for transportation to the surface.

Miraculously, the two were transported safely to the surface, in the kingdom of Gallacão. Both were eager to put distance between them, so they walked in opposite directions. On the surface, Pazu enjoyed the fear that his horrifying visage brought to the mortals he encountered, and used this to feast and fornicate his way around the kingdom. Making no attempt to keep a low profile, it wasn't long before word of his presence made its way to Salasandra.

The Hunt

The city dispatched one of their most adept demon hunters; a hero Pazu was already acquainted with - Bondade Vadeis - to vanquish the devil. For nearly a decade the two stalked and fought each other, neither managing to overcome the other. The two were perfectly matched and, no matter how they might try, their many contests never saw a victor.

Seeking to best his rival, Pazu laid a trap for the wizard in the Serra Várzea mountains. When the devil had the wizard trapped in a cave, he unleashed a powerful spell, which the wizard was able to defend against. What Pazu failed to account for, though, was the instability of the cave in which he ambushed the wizard. The blast triggered a cave-in, which pinned the devil to the ground by his right arm. Using this incapacitation to his advantage, Vadeis struck against the demon.

Knowing that killing him outright would only send him back to the Cthonic where he might regroup and return to the surface using the ritual he witnessed before, Bondade instead used a spell to safely remove the Pazu's head, leaving the body trapped beneath rubble.

Afterlife

Still sentient but lacking his senses, Pazu struggled against his bindings, but, finding he was well stuck, opted to remove his own arm to gain his freedom. While this worked, it further disabled the monster, who could only wander sightlessly across the kingdom. Eventually he ended up in the northern reaches of An-Talamh, where the Tuatha recognized him at once, and brought the defenseless being to a cave where he was locked behind a magic seal.

For years Pazu attempted to beckon to his lost head, noticing that it's bearer had changed - he no longed felt the presence of his rival, but that of an innocent impish behavior. The curious Birdman Sebuh Kenku had come upon the skull and kept it as a simple curiosity he named Kadav. Using his influence, he began to call to Sebuh to go north - and subliminally it worked for some time. However, this plan failed when the tinkerer involved himself with a group of Fixers known as the AAA Fixers For You.

Rebirth

Having consigned himself to an eternity in isolation, Pazu gave up attempting to reunite his head and his body. However, something more wonderous than he could have imagined happened, when Sebuh offered his body to an arcane ritual that cost him his existence, reforming as something distinct. Having carried Pazu's skull during this time, the being that came forward was a melding of the two - carrying aspects of both the Kenku and the archdevil Pazu.

This new being, Kadav Papazuzian, though an individual being, is still beholden to it's progenitor - who exerts his influence over Kadav in an attempt to bring a might defender to his rescue. Unfortunately, the being shares so much of Pazu's genetics, that it proves nearly impossible to command, opting for the life of a bon vivant rather than a demonic conqueror - even going so far as to join a band of heroic adventurers known as The Bastards of Light.
