Zell

A minor goddess of fortune telling, Zell is the daughter of Fedelm, the celestial Goddess of prophecy, and a mortal bard named Temistocles. Fedelm lowered her from the heavens to the Upper Sphere, where she was raised by the 'Mentor of Heroes' Réiltín, who helped her hone her skills in archery, music and soothsaying - becoming the first to enlist cards as a tool to commune with the Gods.

Birth

The Goddess of Prophecy has long attracted many seeking to claim her as their consort, but very few have ever had the opportunity to lay with the Celestial Goddess. One of these men, a mortal hero named Temistocles; a student of the God of Music, and Fedelm's oldest child, Ulliam, fell madly in love with the goddess when he witnessed her at one of his master's recitals.

Stealing away in the night wearing the God's luminous, blinding cloak, he signaled to Fedelm as she passed overhead, prompting her to reel him up to her spectral Gandelow. Because the light of the cloak was so blinding, she couldn't see Tem's face, and his music - which some have said rivals the God of Music, himself, was so moving that it seduced the great goddess. After the two shared their passion, with Temistocles unclothed, she saw that he was not who he presented himself to be, and she vengefully cast him out of her boat. When their child was born, the sight of her only carried the pain of her deception, so Fedelm decided to lower the baby on her silver line to the surface, where she entrusted the great Centaur Réiltín to raise the child.

However, while the child was passing between realms, she was infused with an ethereal property, allowing her to pass between the five Domains at will. She is one of only a few beings with the ability to traverse existence freely.

Mentorship

Zell was raised by the Primordial Centaur, Réiltín, who was known by all Gods for his proficiency at raising mortals into celebrated heroes. A number of wayward gods have been raised under his tutelage, including Zell. Though she had unique and inherent skill with prophecy and music, as well as her ability to phase shift between domains, Réiltín insisted that she undergo the same training his other students were subject to - which included archery, hunting, history and combat. As such, she grew to be a formidable warrior in addition to her divine gifts.

When she reached the age of 22, Réiltín informed her that her mentorship was complete and sent her into the world to find her place. While many temples sought to enlist her prophetic gifts, she instead opted to travel the lands, seeking a place to settle where she could make her own legend, rather than living in her mother's shadow.

Cthonic Servitude

The darkness of the Cthonic Remains makes prophecy difficult to discern for most, but Zell's powers were strong, and she was trained to read them even in the absence of light. As such, Zell was drawn to the underworld where she thought she might be able to guide the domain out of their ancient hatreds.

Because of the fractured and isolated nature of the sphere, Zell has never had the luxury of settling down and establishing a center of worship, instead opting for a nomadic life of travel and hardship. In the last couple centuries, she has made several trips to the Cthonic realm of Mag Duinn, where she insists a major event is about to come to pass.
