Piedá

The dangerous woods of The Outlands in the Cthonic Realm of Mag Duinn are home to two elemental spirits; Naiad sisters Mélusina and Piedá. The younger of the two, Piedá, occupies a small spring in a quiet corner of the woods where she enjoys a life of solitude away from the loud voices and demands of mortals.
As so happens when there are two of anything, comparisons are always drawn - as such, the people of the neighboring villages of Aldeia de Raiz and Aldeia de Espiga have constantly compared the sisters and have decided that they favor the older sister Mélusina. Her river flows with a greater strength, she welcomes the adoration of mortals, her beauty is unrivaled. This constant comparison has made the elemental bitter towards mortals, and she scornfully punishes those that would disturb her glade.
The Oathgrounds
Piedrá's disdain for humanity was manipulated by the mysterious matriarch of a secret cult known only as 'The Mother'. She was convinced to work with High Priest Nebuchadrezzar of The Mycelial Thread. Promising that his campaign in nearby Espiga would eventually lead to the collapse of humanity in the region, leaving the Outlands free of the mortal influence, he convinced her to guard a sacred ritual space called The Oathgrounds - a fungal pocket within the earth where the cult would vet The Emissaries of the Thread.
Wishing to return the realm to a time when humanity wasn't such a threat to her wellbeing, the Naiad happily sided with the ancient being and eagerly tests the strength of those who come seeking the power of the Thread before they face their initiation - most of which fail to make it that far.
