The Emissaries of the Thread

Among The Mycelial Thread, there is a feared branch of supernatural enforced called The Emissaries of the Thread - bestial humanoids of rotting fungus that exist only to ensure that those within the cult are kept in line, and to act as couriers for the famously secretive religion.

Of this order, only three are known to work for high priest Nebuchadrezzar: Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego. These creatures were spotted for the first time by an outsider who lived to tell the tale by a group of adventurers who were tracking the disgraced cultist Vicente Anbrosio through The Outlands. During this confrontation, the Emissaries known as Meshach and Abednego were killed and allegedly devoured, though the leader Shadrach left.

It is unknown as to whether any more emissaries exist, where they come from or who they really serve.
